Blind in Business provides a range of services to both undergraduates/graduates and employers to ease the transition between education and employment for visually impaired individuals.

Our services:

Services for Graduates and Undergraduates

If you are visually impaired, currently at university or have recently graduated and are thinking about employment, Blind in Business may be able to help in your job search. We have successfully worked with over 400 graduates over the years to ensure they are able to compete fairly with other graduates about to embark on their chosen career. We are strong advocates of achieving what you want and strive to seek practical solutions to traditional hurdles in the recruitment process.

We offer:

  • Information on current recruitment programmes in easy to access formats
  • Assistance with the practical aspects of completing application forms
  • Specialised interview practice sessions with graduate interviewers from major employers
  • Reading service for selection tests and assessment centres
  • Networking and support from visually impaired employees and professionals
  • Advice and support on obtaining equipment for work
  • Information and advice on disclosing a visual impairment

Services for Employers

Are you an HR Professional or involved in recruitment? We recognise the practical issues associated in the selection and recruitment of visually impaired candidates. From a lack of experience of visual impairment and what it means within the recruitment process, to the practicalities of visually impaired candidates being able to participate in an assessment centre. We provide effective solutions and advice to a range of corporate recruiters.

We offer:

  • Practical guidance and support in making your recruitment procedures more accessible at any stage of the recruitment process - advertising, application, selection and interviewing
  • Specialist awareness workshops for Human Resources staff, interviewers and assessors involved in recruitment
  • Identification of job roles and tasks appropriate to the skills of visually impaired employees
  • Advice and support during the employees' induction period
  • Advice on obtaining a 'needs assessment' in respect of equipment requirements and initial training
  • Seminars for Managers and teams on integrating visually impaired colleagues into the workplace
  • Introduction to key contacts in other companies who have blind and partially sighted employees
  • A reading service to allow visually impaired graduates to be fully integrated and to participate in assessment centres
  • Advice on making assessment centres accessible
